Fighting Fund

Hi everybody,

As we are sure you are aware, we have had an enormous battle over the last ten years with Jay’s brother Michael who has been using the Gene Loves Jezebel moniker with musicians we feel are nothing to do with the band’s legacy, of which we are enormously proud.

Michael tried to serve us, via his guitar player, a writ to stop our “infringement” of “his mark” as we walked on stage at The Viper Room in LA on February 15 this year. It was served incorrectly, as the writs to us all were only served on Peter Rizzo, but now we feel enough is enough and that service has to be countered by us all. The writ was served in person by Mike’s guitarist “Switch.” That this man, who plays the riffs and songs we wrote every time he walks on stage with Michael, feels comfortable serving us a writ to prevent us playing the songs we performed on all those albums, is to us incomprehensible. Of all Gene Loves Jezebel’s 1980s hits (Desire, Heartache, 20 Killer Hurts, Suspicion, Motion Of Love, Jealous etc) the only track Michael actually sang lead vocal on was Heartache and then only in the verses.

Litigation in the USA is expensive, as you know, but this time we have to turn and fight. We are appealing to you, our loyal fans, to support our cause. If you want to continue to see what we believe is the real Gene Loves Jezebel perform in the USA unhindered by Michael’s bullshit please donate whatever you can to our fighting fund.
