GLJ CONCERT - FREAMUNDE - PORTUGAL 07-07-2006

The reason for writing this words : I'm fan of GLJ and I realise there's so much work of this band, but only a few available - so I thought it's time to give my contribute .

I arrive at Freamunde at 6p.m.

The large stage was just in the center of the small village between 2 streets and a round about with houses all around and large trees in the back- police had to cut traffic for the concert latter .

My surprise : The guys were on stage for a sound test - JAY was ( EVOQUING ALL ROCK & ROLL SPIRITS of DEAD STARS and POETS as JANIS, JIM MORRISON, JOHN LENNON ... even ELVIS was there just watching ) singing MOTHER from John Lennon ?!!!

They were testing sound for about 30 minutes. At the end of sound testing I could even speak with the guys, no matter the big security and amount of body guards all around ( Never seen so much security around GLJ before)

The concert starts with a speech of a local authority saying that after european tour, GLJ CHOOSE FREAMUNDE TO EDIT A DVD, so everyone present giving the best support to the guys . Finally he announces GENE LOVES JEZEBEL ...

All Rock & Roll dead spirits were already waiting in the shadows of the stage or up in the trees and were allowed to sing through JAY's voice ...

And they start with Josephina ...

This concert is different from all others as Jay is showing all his own lifetime in music as in a documentary : songs come naturally and Jay speaking/singing slow and calmly, not to impress audience but as saying " this is the anthology of GLJ life - This is something I had to do, after that I can turn a chapter in mine and GLJ life . These are the glorious songs of the past , and this is the best way GLJ can play them, but I'm a different man now " . ( MY OPINION - not Jay words )

Long stops among songs as it was so hot and the guys giving his best in every song ( even JAMES DRINKING WATER ??? ... ) and audiance in **SWEET RAIN throwing water up in the air from bottles like a shower and everybody so happy ...

About the guys, they were so high and well - they really rock so hard but so hard as never before, for instance we could hear JIMI HENDRIX cryes getting out of JAMES guitar for a few times ... ( there's even a moment in SWEET RAIN when Pete, James and Chris turned faces to each other, just forgot the audience in a non-stop hard sound ecxtasy ).

The guys sometimes been catch by strange dead musician spirits and getting some rythms that don't belong to any GLJ song, waiting for Jay to get into the sound and conduce them , or the audience inventing songs and Jay singing with them .

Just in the middle of COW we heard strange sounds coming from PETER guitar, also JAMES guitar ... and JAY been catch by JIM MORRISON spirit and singing THE END as if he really was on stage and riding snakes - CREEPY !!!!!

The first time Jay said goodbye and they all went away from stage - spirits took possession of fans that start singing in chorus in Portuguese and in a strong rythm : PAROU? PAROU PORQUE? PORQUE PAROU? ( that means : YOU STOP ? WHY DID YOU STOP ? DID YOU STOP WHY ? and again and again and again - never heard that before - it's inedit and nice . Also (FREAMUNDE WANTS YOU BACK )

After return on stage 3 more songs and among songs JAY's saying FUCK ! ( and speaking with James trying to start another GLJ song ) - but as I heard once one girl - " JAY is so polite, when he says FUCk or something same style that seems a compliment ".

People of all ages ( many young children dancing on rythm - I record a few ... lots of babies sleeping on mothers chest ) - That's not my imagination : PORTUGUESE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES LOVES JAY - JAY shows people DREAM-HEAVEN-LOVE-MOTHER-SEX-FUCK-FIGHT-DEATH-HELL but also people learn HOW TO LIVE and PREPARE TO DEATH in the believe of THE AFTERLIFE .

There's one nice part I recorded - a young girl sitted up his father shoulders shaking his arms up in the air on Jay's rythm and Jay singing to her ...

At End a speach with a big hommage to GLJ and a gift - the book of Freamunde history ( this part very special meaning for audiance as the name of the small village means Peace/Protection of the world ) and some nice flowers that PETER took and all 4 brother together saying goodbye .

Just after that and only 100 m from stage and in the round about just in the middle of houses ( this portuguese are crazy ) just near people - fire lights up in the air and with strong bombs( my bad english ) I was just thinking when some house would fall down or even braking window glasses - the ground was shaking ...
